Come and meet Greg Stafford (MP) and Hayley Pope (GTP). Members will hear on the latest news on local and national politics, a true Farnham success story from Hugo and an update on the latest on the accountancy changes specifically for SME. Three fascinating speakers with strong interests in Farnham and a chance to see the great community asset we have that is Farnham Town FC.

Greg Stafford MP represents Farnham and Bordon, serving Farnham, Bordon, Haslemere, Liphook and surrounding villages. He is an Opposition Assistant Whip and sits on the Health & Social Care Select Committee. Before Westminster, he built a career improving healthcare. As Director of Policy & Engagement at NHS England’s GIRFT programme, he worked with clinicians to spread best practice, reduce waste and deliver better outcomes. From 2014 to 2022 he led the Conservative Group on Ealing Council, gaining a reputation as a determined and effective local leader. With local roots to the Farnham area - he champions small businesses and high streets, campaigns for better SEND provision, supports farmers and pensioners, and tackles rural crime. He is equally outspoken on foreign policy, calling for a clear-eyed approach to hostile states and a robust defence of British interests. Hayley Pope is not your 'standard' Accountant is probably the best place to start. She Qualified ACCA in 2011 having studied while working full time and raising her children. Anyone who knows her knows she doesnt really do things by halves, it’s very much all or nothing. Hayley wears her heart on her sleeve and tell it how it is which most people seem to appreciate, especially in business. We arranged this last year and the event quickly sold out, but then came the General Election on the same day, so we promised to postpone and re-arrange for a sunny evening this summer. Members Event: Lunch and Learn at the Maltings

The new CEO of the Maltings Peter Glanville will tell us about the Maltings and what they offer and their plans for the future. The Maltings is a jewel for Farnham and one that many of us as business leaders perhaps dont realise quite what it has to offer to us as business leaders invested in the town.

If what we read in the papers is true, the environment from an employer perspective is rapidly changing with the new government. Lucy Williams (the Little HR Department) will bring us upto speed on what we might expect and what we should be thinking about to guide us through some of these potential changes in the employer - employee relationship. A very relevant topic.

Welcome to the Farnham Election Debate 2024 with your leading candidates!

Join us at Jack & Alice - Farnham (Wed 26th 7pm) for a lively discussion on the future of our town and the immediate area from your perspective as Business Leaders. Hear directly from the candidates on their plans and visions for Farnham. This in-person event is your chance to engage with the candidates who could be shaping our Farnham and sorrounding area.

This pivotal event offers the constituents of Farnham and the surrounding area a unique opportunity to engage directly with the candidates vying for their votes.

The debate is styled after the popular "Question Time" format. The evening promises lively discussion and critical insights as the candidates address the pressing issues facing our local business and community.

The lineup includes Greg Stafford from the Conservative Party, Alex Just from the Labour Party and Khalil Yousuf from the Liberal Democrats. The other candidates were invited [Update - Ged Hall from Reform UK will also now be attending). This election cycle is particularly noteworthy for Farnham due to a recent boundary change.

The debate will tackle local issues affecting your business such as utility works affecting commerce in the town, expensive housing, congestion, recruitment challenges, high rent and rates, developments and rising shoplifting rates will likely be on the agenda. Attendees will have the chance to submit questions in advance, ensuring their concerns are heard. Questions can be submitted at the time of booking. There will be no walk-ins.

Tickets are priced at £10 for Chamber members and £15 for members' guests and include a welcome drink.

Fascinating Members behind the scenes tour of REEL and the BRIGHTWELLS development

Another fascinating (and sold out) Members Event! With over 30 Members attending, many new members it was great to hear from the horses mouth the latest on Brightwells as well as learn how REEL are adding to the community.

Many thanks to David Monk of Reel Cinema for sharing their story and giving us a tour of one of the most advanced boutique cinemas in the UK, including a chance to experience the luxurious Lounge screen and see from the gallery the impressive projection equipment, some of the most advanced in the UK.

It was also great to be joined by Andrea Weeks of Crest Nicholson, Waverley Borough Councillor Tony Fairclough and Surrey County Councillor Andy MacLeod, who answered all of our questions on the Brightwells Yard development.

New Chair at Farnham Chamber of Commerce

After 18 successful months at the helm, Tracey Corney has handed over the chair of the Farnham Chamber to Nick Kent.

"We are really proud of the work Tracey has done in the last 12-18 months to re-start the Farnham Chamber out of Covid. The difficult work has been done and the Chamber would have never got to where we have without Tracey's enthusiasm and drive. The Chamber has never been more active and never had more members than now. Alongside my fellow Committee Members, we look forward to supporting this important part of Farnham's business community.

Having been brought up in Farnham, and with my business being an active part of the town for over 50 years, the continued success of the town is ingrained.

Farnham BID ballot opens

The BID is very relevant to many of our members with premises located in the town, but also to members who use Farnham. If you have business premises (and are a rate payer with rateable value over £5k) then you would have received a ballot paper this week. It is very important you vote either way, as the outcome can be decided on a percentage of the turnout, even if the turnout is low, which can have an implication for the next 5 years. Voting ballot papers must be returned before the end of October.

The Farnham Chamber of Commerce stands independently from the BID (as many of our members are outside the town centre geography) but are keen to ensure our members have a good understanding of the BID so those can vote relevantly. The Chamber also serves as a conduit back to the BID working group if you have questions. We have tried to answer some relevant questions below, and here is a direct link to the BID co-ordinator who would be more than happy to assist.

Thank you to Rupert Thompson and his team at the Hogs Back Brewery Ltd for hosting a fascinating evening last night for our Farnham Chamber of Commerce members and guests. Interesting to learn snippets on Farnham’s history of hops, Rupert’s own career and journey and the unique story of this wonderful (and growing) brand right on our doorstep!

With over 30 business leaders from Farnham joining us in the sun, over pizza and the freshest beer in the UK (one of the Hogs Back Brewery's USP's) we learnt lots on the having a true business value, the importance of differentiation in a mature market and focussing on customer value. All things we knew but great to hear it from a very charismatic leader of one of Farnham's great brands. Our members come from a diverse mix of sectors and industries (from Premiership Football agencies to SEO experts), but all share one thing in common... we are all business leaders in Farnham that share common interests.

Farnham Chamber Relaunch a Huge Success

Our Farnham Chamber of Commerce relaunch (kindly hosted by Francesco and team at the Bush Hotel ) was a huge success with a packed room hearing the new committee talk about how the Chamber is kickstarting next month. With our first members event already planned for 28th February (this time at the Castle Inn) we are now inviting applications for membership to the Chamber.

With over 70 Farnham business represented, the benefits of supporting each other, education and a voice for the future of commerce in Farnham were all discussed with an interactive presentation from the new committee .

The membership year runs from 1st February and business leaders and decision makers with an enterprise (whether it be a business, partnership, charity or organisation) based in Farnham or the surrounding villages are invited to join. So if you have a vested interest in taking commerce in the town to the next level, apply for membership here . Membership fees are £90 per annum.

Meet some of the Farnham BID team as we host a Q&A - 28th Feb

Business improvement districts are often seen as an effective way in which businesses can take control and improve their trading environment. BID’s are funded and controlled directly by the businesses that pay for them. As a Farnham business that pays levys and are in the geography of the proposed BID, if voted in, you would choose which projects the BID fund is spent on.

Since 2004 when Government passed the Business Improvement Legislation, there have been over 300 successful BID’s in the UK, which over the next 5 years will generate over £100 million in investment.

The Farnham BID may well raise between £100-300k p/a through a levy that could potentially be raised through contributions. More details can be seen here . The planned a timescale is a vote in Qtr 2 2023 for those applicable business rate payers.

We are delighted some of the BID team will be at our first 2023 event for our members*, so come and meet the BID team, and learn more about an important and relevant opportunity for Farnham businesses.

We are proud to announce our relaunch event on the 26th January, 6-8pm at The Bush Hotel, Farnham... a chance to hear from the new committee, meet prospective members and have your say in what you want from the new, exciting Farnham Chamber of Commerce...

The Farnham Chamber of Commerce has been active since the 1920's and we are looking forward to supporting the Farnham business community.

If you are the owner, director or senior decision maker of a business based in Farnham or the immediate vicinity (within Surrey), reserve your place for free here .

The relaunch of the Farnham Chamber of Commerce

The Farnham Chamber has for very valid reasons been put on ice for the last couple of years, but under the new leadership team we are very excited to re-launching the Farnham Chamber of Commerce on its original core principles: "to support and promote business in Farnham".. Please bear with us as we relaunch the Chamber of the coming weeks and months. Rest assured there is lots of activity in the background to bring to our members together..
